By-Laws |
 |
 |
The IAPPM Bylaws does not attempt to dictate Chapter or any other bylaws stated elsewhere. There are only a few IAPPM Bylaws provisions with which Chapter bylaws must be consistent. Specifically, the following subjects must be approached with some attention:
- Creation: Chapters may be created upon the approval of the IAPPM Executive Board upon a petition by a group of 6 or more active members with CPM residing within the territory of such chapter.
- Purpose: Chapters may be created for any lawful purpose consistent with the object of the Association.
- Chapter activities: must be consistent with the objectives of the Association. Chapters are to submit monthly reports on activities and goals.
- Membership qualifications: may be set by the Chapter, but must comply with the anti-discrimination provisions of the Association Bylaws. Any country or local chapter can only accept a members if paid up and in good standing order, but the president of the Chapter must be a member of the Association.
- Discrimination: Membership in a Chapters of the Association or participation in any activity of a Chapter shall not be denied or abridged on account of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability or sexual orientation.
- Chapter bylaws: must be submitted to the Bylaws Committee of the Association for review to ensure that the provisions proposed are not in conflict with any provisions of the Association's Bylaws and are otherwise consistent.
- Expenses: Chapters may not incur expenses on behalf of the Association nor may they commit the Association by any declaration of policy. Expenses are usually tied to the regional chapter and chapters shall collect additional membership fees or donations to support their activities.
- Limitation of power: No Chapter shall incur expenses on behalf of the Association, nor shall any Chapter commit the Association by any declaration of policy.
- Dissolution: The Executive Board may, after proper investigation, recommend to the membership at an annual meeting the discontinuance or suspension of any Chapter that has ceased to be active or that fails to comply with any provisions of these Bylaws
- IAPPM headquarters and chapters will maintain contact with the Association by :
(a) advising the Chapter Committee promptly of the names of its newly elected officers
(b) furnishing progress information on a quarterly basis and an annual activities report to the IAPPM Executive Committee
(c) verifying Association membership status of potential Chapter members
(d) Keeping IAPPM advised of marketing campaigns and efforts to grow membership
- Fees: Chapters may charge members dues which are dedicated to Chapter operations, in an amount determined by IAPPM executive council. IAPPM suggests that chapter dues for each Chapter should be $50 per year. Dues shall be assessed annually, due on January 1 of each year. On renewals, there shall be a two-month grace period; if Chapter dues as assessed are not paid by March 1, the member's Chapter dues shall be considered to be in arrears or to participate in Chapter activities, until the Chapter dues in arrears are paid in full.
